Life's Basics

If you could have earned your salvation, Jesus would not have needed to die.

"All have sinned and come short of the glory of God" Romans 3:23

"Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of this world." John 1:29

"Come unto Me all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest"  Matthew 11:28

 

The simple ABC's show us that in and of ourselves, we are RUINED, but in Christ we are REDEEMED; and when we RECEIVE Christ, we are SAVED.

 

The fact of sin, which most people don't like to admit, shows us that all by ourselves we are ruined.  We have no hope for the life to come. Likewise, there there is no hope or comfort for the present.  The Bible tells us in Isaiah 53:6 that "All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on Him (Jesus) the iniquity of us all."

 

Since I was born with a sinful nature, no matter how good I am, I am still a sinner. You know, anyway, that it only takes one sin to make a sinner.  So the fact of sin cannot honestly be denied . Consider the sins of a lifetime, in thought and act and even of omission.  They can't be blotted out or removed except God's provision.

 

But God has graciously provided for us so that we can be forgiven and escape the penalty of sin which is eternal death. The Bible says in Galatians 3:13 that "Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the las, being made a curse for us."  This is the only answer to the sin problem.  The cross is the plus sign of our minus lives.

 

You see it is all by faith.  Faith in Christ by whoever receives Him personally as Savior.  God says to us, "Him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out." John 1:12.  And He says to those who do receive Him, "I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions (sins)." Isaiah 44:22
